Piper's Melody

122cm (W) x 92cm (H)
acrylic on canvas

Wendy Grace
The painting Piper’s Melody recalls memories of an imaginary world and the associated feelings of joy and wonderment. My works are instances, remembered and conjured like the sensation of listening to the Pied Piper’s magical flute. This work was a finalist in the Redland Art Awards 2014.

Made with love

Professional quality acrylic paints on either a 10 or 12oz canvas.  I like to stretch the canvases myself, select the materials, the wood and canvas and assemble the frames in my studio. Frames are either hardwood or pine,  professional stretchers that are stretched with either 100% cotton or a cotton-polyester blend. I like the smooth fine weave of the polycotton.

Handling the materials at this early stage provides my initial connection with the work, a familiarity with the wood and the surface of the weave and marks the beginning of a journey.
