Commission Gardner Wetherill Associates

Wendy Grace artwork selected for the Rose Chapel.

GWA are pleased to have selected Melbourne artist Wendy Grace to prepare a series for the Rose Chapel interior at Macquarie Park Cemetery

Represented by Manyung Gallery Group, she was selected as her artwork offers not just a kind and thoughtful aesthetic but also one that is aligned with the design philosophy of the architecture. The narrative of this project is to provide environments as part of a journey which appeal to our sense and offer solitude for contemplation or simply gathering reflection.

“The artwork Wooded Hollow has a beautiful depth of field and stood out as a piece to select for the chapel. It provides a sense of contemplation under a tree canopy in a bushland setting.” says GWA Director Toby Wetherill.

Wooded Hollow is highly evocative of positive memories and textures within the natural surrounds.

Wendy is an artist based in Melbourne. Her art practice

centres on photography and painting and creating works

inspired by her natural surroundings. The characteristic

contours, textures and colours found in the landscape

reflect nature’s cycles of life, the process of growth and

change which forms the basis of her work. Wendy’s

fascination for the patterns of nature can be seen in her

organic, abstract compositions of translucent paint on

paper and canvas.

Frankston Art Centre 2016

37 Davey Street, Frankston

I was honoured and thrilled to receive the prize for the Open Art exhibition 2016 and would like to thank Frankston Arts Centre, the City of Frankston and all the residents that support and encourage the arts in this region.

The entries of some fifty artists were judged by the then director of McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery,  Mr John M. Cunningham who said of my entry that: " Wendy Grace's work is such a perfect extension of body and mind. Her painting Around the Burrow moves with the rhythm, discipline and balance of a gymnast with subtle flecks and washes of colour unifying a whole range of forms and space."
